Motion Graphics & Kinetic Typography

When the message is complicated and the footage does not exist, motion graphics make it clear and watchable.

Content Department designs and animates motion graphics for brands across Australia, from our Sydney studio: kinetic typography, icons, data, interface and title animation, on their own or layered over live footage. It is how a services business explains what it does, and how a product launch says three things in fifteen seconds.

Why us

Good motion graphics are mostly good writing.

Most motion graphics fail before anything moves: too many words on screen, too many ideas per scene, and animation used to decorate rather than explain.

We write the message first, cut it down to one idea per beat, then design and animate it so each line lands before the next arrives. Because we also shoot, we can mix graphics with live footage when people need to be in the story.

  • One idea per beat, written before anything is designed
  • Kinetic typography timed to the voice and the cut
  • Graphics and live footage from one team
  • Built in Australia, for brands selling to Australians
How it runs

Script, style, animatic, then animation.

Each step is signed off before the next, so nothing expensive changes late.

01

Brief & script

What it has to explain, who it is for and where it runs. The script comes first, because animation is expensive to change once it moves.

02

Style frames

A few finished-looking frames so you can see the look before anything is animated.

03

Animatic

A rough, timed version of the whole film with the voiceover, so pacing is fixed before the build.

04

Animate & deliver

The full build, sound design, revisions and every cutdown you need.

Before you brief us

Questions we get asked.

What is the difference between motion graphics and animation?

Motion graphics animate design elements: type, shapes, icons, data and interface. Character animation brings characters and scenes to life. Many projects use both, and we make both.

What is kinetic typography?

Animated text that moves in time with the voice or music, so the words carry the message as well as the voiceover. It is useful when people watch with the sound off.

Can you work with our brand guidelines?

Yes. We build the motion system from your fonts, colours and icons, and if the guidelines stop at static design we will define how the brand moves.

Got something hard to explain?

Send us the message and where it needs to run. We will come back with a script angle and a fixed price.
